How Realr works

What happens when you delete your Realr account.

Deleting removes your profile, documents and photos. A fingerprint is kept for a year, and this is what it is and why.

What is removed

Your profile, your photos, your identity documents and recordings, your checks and your sessions are deleted. Your link stops working, and apps you connected lose their access.

What other people still see

If you answered someone’s request, they still see that it was answered, by an account that has since been deleted. The name and checks you showed them are removed. A purchase you made stays in the seller’s history, and a review you wrote stays on their profile, without your name.

What is kept

For twelve months Realr keeps a scrambled fingerprint of the email, phone number, legal name and ID file the account used, with a note of how the account stood when it closed, such as whether it was suspended or had open reports.

Realr also keeps its own records: payments you made, that a check was approved or refused, reports you sent about someone else, and anything Realr’s team did on the account. These hold no documents, photos or recordings. Reports are kept without your name or contact details.

Why

Without it, anyone suspended or reported could delete their account and open a new one that looked spotless. A trust profile you can throw away and reissue would not be worth much to the people relying on it.

What a fingerprint can and cannot do

It cannot be turned back into your email, number, name or document, and nobody at Realr can read it as one. It can only answer whether the same details have been here before.

If you come back

You are welcome to. If your earlier account closed in good standing, nothing stands in your way. Your old handle is held for thirty days and then released.
